Cantik Manis or Sweet Pretty Cake is one of many popular Indonesian cake.
The cake is sweet & pretty, the main ingredient is a combination of Hunkwe flour (Mugbean flour) & coconut milk. It combine with Biji Mutiara or Sago Pearl.
Normally this dessert are individually wrapped with thick plastic wrapper or banana leaves.
This time I used small moulds instead of wrap it with banana leaf.
Biji Mutiara or Sago Pearl is made from Cassava starch sold in various forms & color. To cook the Sago Pearl you just boil it for a long time until it look transparent, then rinse and drain it.
This cake is one of my favorite Indonesian cake. My mom used to bring this cake home every time she came back from the market in the morning. Nowadays every time I visit her, she has these cake among many other cakes for me for breakfast and I still enjoy every bite of it.
