Rambutan ( Ram-bo-tahn ) is Hairy fruit. The word Rambut in the fruit name “Rambutan “in Indonesia means hairy this refers to the spiky rind. Rambutan is very common fruit in Indonesia.
The most common type Rambutan in Indonesia is Rambutan Rapiah. The fruit is a round to oval and the flesh is translucent , whitish with sweet mildly acidic flavor.
Opening the fruit by either cutting part into the rind or if fresh biting into it as the spines are quite soft. There maybe some juice if the rambutan is really fresh. There is one seed in the center.
