PUKIS

Pukis is one of the favorite traditional snacks in Indonesia specially in Jakarta. You often see sellers on the street selling this cake. It definitely brought back nostalgic childhood moment every time  I have this snack.

I used to go with my mom to the morning market and we often brought back home this snack. Pukis is actually very easy to make. Pukis has so many variations ranging from chocolate, cheese, raisins, jackfruit, to peanuts. The ingredients are not hard to find. It is simple but delicious perhaps that is what make this snack still favorite snack among children and adult.

CHOCOLATE MEISES PUKIS

Ingredients:

250 gram flour

1 teaspoon instant yeast

250 gram sugar

4 eggs

250 ml coconut milk

3 tablespoon chocolate meises

50 ounces grated cheese

About 3 tablespoons margarine for spreading

Method :

Sift flour & mix the yeast with it & stir well.

Beat eggs & sugar until thick & fluffy

Add the flour mixture little by little

Add coconut milk & stir well, allow the dough to sit for about 30 minutes

Heat the Pukis mold over medium heat & basting with margarine or vegetable oil

Pour the batter into the Pukis mold until almost full

Wait until cook & dry edges. Then lift the cake & serve.

Note:

For variation contents before surface dries, sprinkle with chocolate meises, grated cheese, raisins, jack fruits or chopped peanuts.

To get the dough with variety of other flavours such as chocolate  add the dough with 1 teaspoon chocolate paste & 1 tablespoon cocoa powder.
