Bubur or Rice Porridge/ Congee is very popular in Indonesia also in other places in Asian countries.
Most often Rice Porridge served as a meal on its own with additional ingredients such as chicken, fish, meat & flavorings.
When I was little my mom used to prepared Bubur when I had a bad cold or having an upset tummy.
A bowl of Bubur gives a warmth & comfort feeling.
Chicken & rice are slowly simmered in a delicious broth flavoured with garlic, ginger & onions. It serve with fried shallots, spring onion and chicken shredded.
This time I have Bubur/ Rice Porridge with Abon Sapi, it simple and easy to prepare & you can serve it together with Krupuk, sambal, fried onion & fried peanuts on top. For me I add a little bit of kecap manis (Indonesian sweet soy sauce). It is really a comforting food.
A hot bowl of Bubur is perfect on a bad cold day, chilly day or any day.
Notes for cooking :
For other variety, fish or meat can be used instead of chicken
For a thinner Bubur add more cups of chicken stock
When reheating add some chicken stock or water
