When I think of Emie Medan I think of my mom & our trip to the morning market together.
When I was a kid after we twist and turn through the market’s maze of stalls & stuff our bags with good stuff such as whole fish, fresh produce, we would stop by our favorite vendor & we bought Emie Medan for us to eat back home.
Emie Medan is yellow noodle serve with sauce mix with vegetable & spices. Medan is the name of a city in Sumatra island & Emie means noodle.
A plate of Emie Medan for our brunch is always something to look forward to every time we came home from the market and it still is.
Now days if I visited my mom I will buy the Emie & bring it to her place & eat it together with her.
We use yellow noodle in this dish. Mix with potato, beansprout & shrimps. The broth is sour & thick, serve with fried shallots & Krupuk or colour shrimps crackers. It is sour, salty & sweet mix together, its delicious, Thinking of it make me hungry again.
Here some of the pictures of one of the stall in the market that sell Emie Medan. There are many stalls that sell Emie Medan in this market & this one is one of them.
