Pisang Goreng or Fried Banana is a famous Indonesian snack. You can consumed it as a snack in the morning or afternoon. It often sold by street vendors.
In Jakarta Pisang Goreng Pontianak are widely popular. Pontianak is the capital city of West Kalimantan. Pisang Kepok is a popular kind of banana used for Pisang Goreng.
The shape of this Fried Banana looks like an opened fan.
Me & my mom like to get Pisang Goreng from the street vendor not far from our house, at that time they only opened in the evening until late at night. Now days there are many other vendors that opened early in the afternoon.
I still like to get Pisang Goreng from the street vendors but now if I visited my mom, she has Pisang Goreng ( Fried Bananas) for our snack time or tea time.
If you prefer to make your own Pisang Goreng it is very easy to make.
People might have their own version of making Pisang Goreng or Fried Bananas and served in various way, with cinnamon, sugar or topping with chocolate. This time I share my own version, it easy, delicious & very simple. Here I used Plantain some people may be prefer to use regular banana and I like to eat it without any topping.
3 tablespoons all purpose flour
2 tablespoons rice flour
150 ml water
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
Peel each banana & slice lengthways into 3 or4 slices resemble a fan or slice into half lengthways.
Heat the cooking oil in a deep fryer/wok at medium heat.
In the mixing bowl combine all the batter ingredient & mix well to a thick consistency.
Dip each bananas into batter & deep fry into hot oil.
Turning occasionally until golden brown at both side. Fry 2 or 3 at a time.
When its done remove the bananas and drain on paper towel on top of a plate.
