CHINESE NEW YEAR’S EVE DINNER

The New Year’s Eve dinner also called “Reunion Dinner”

Usually the family of several generations sit around tables and enjoy the food and time together.
Fish is a must to eat for Chinese New Year. Eating fish is believe to bring surplus of money and good luck in the coming year.

This year I prepared :

Spicy Blue Crab Soup (Kkotgae-tang)

Fried Shrimps with sweet sour sauce

Sambal Godok (spicy chopped corn with coconut milk)

Fried Fish with sambal kecap(chili soy sauce)

Fried Noodles

Stir Fry vegetable

I like to start the meal with soup, this Korean soup spicy, salty from the soy bean paste and sweet from the crab & shrimps

Sambal Godok is cooked sliced young corn with chili and coconut milk. It remind me of my childhood, gathering at my grandparents house and my aunt cooked this dish.

Fried Fish with sambal kecap( chili and soy sauce ), A simple salt & pepper fried tilapia fish accompany with tomatoes, chili and kecap/soy sauce.

For dessert we have Jelly and Nastar
