Summer Trip 2014 Savannah Georgia part five : TYBEE ISLAND

Tybee island Georgia is an island & city in Chatham Georgia. It is about 20 minutes east of Savannah Georgia. Tybee island ‘s strategic position near the mouth of the Savannah River. The city of Tybee island is located on the Georgia barrier island & it is officially renamed “Savannah Beach”

There are miles of beach forts, museums & a great old lighthouse. The island’s north end is the site of the Tybee lighthouse & museum. It is at the northern tip of the island, first built-in 1736.It was made of brick & wood. The Tybee island light station is one of just a handful of 18th century lighthouse still in operation in North America.

Tybee island is a laid back location on the southeastern coast. Many people from townies to tourist on Tybee island watches out for the Sea Turtle.

It is the perfect destination for the out-door enthusiast & offers activities from fishing & kayaking to jet skiing & parasailing. This barrier island on Georgia’s coast boasts five miles of beach with sea coat covered sand dunes. Just perfect for sunbathing, people watching & enjoying Atlantic Ocean View.
